ChalkKit

Support · iPhone and iPad

ChalkKit is a small set of everyday classroom tools for teachers: a quick grader, a classroom timer, dice / coin / number tools, a student picker, a group maker, and saved class lists. Every tool is one tap from the home screen and works without any setup.

Everything stays on your device. No account, no sign-up, no internet connection needed, no ads, no analytics, and no in-app purchases.

Contact

Questions, bug reports and feedback are all welcome — please email shon13b@gmail.com.

It helps to include your device model (for example iPhone 16 or iPad Air), your iOS version, and a short description of what you expected to happen. Screenshots are very useful for anything visual.

Troubleshooting

Do I have to create a class first?

No. The Grader, Timer and Random tools never need one. For the Picker and Groups, tap the pencil icon and paste a quick list of names — that list is used for the session only and is not saved. Save a class in My Classes when you want the names to stay.

The Picker says "Everyone has had a turn"

With No repeats on, each student is picked once per round. Tap Reset round to start again, or switch No repeats off to allow repeats.

Presentation mode

The expand icon in the top-right corner of the Timer, Picker and Groups opens a full-screen view for the class. Tap the close button to return. The screen stays awake while the timer is running or a presentation view is open.

The timer kept counting while the app was in the background

That is intended: the timer counts down from a fixed end time, so leaving the app, locking the screen or switching tools does not pause it. Use Pause when you want it to stop.

Speaking picked names

Settings → Speak picked names reads each picked name aloud using the voice built into your device. It is off until you turn it on. Sound and haptics can each be switched off in Settings as well.

My classes disappeared

Class lists are stored only on your device. They are not synced to any server, so they do not move between devices and they are removed if the app is deleted. If a class vanished without the app being deleted, please email the address above with your device and iOS version.

How do I delete my data?

Delete a class in My Classes to remove its names immediately, or delete the app to remove everything ChalkKit has stored. There is no server-side copy to request removal of.

Does ChalkKit need internet access?

No. Every tool works fully offline. The only time the app opens a connection is when you tap one of the optional "More for teachers" links in Settings (or the Classeem row on Home), which open a web page or an App Store page you chose.

Privacy

ChalkKit does not collect personal data. The full policy is on the Privacy Policy page.
